CoTeSys participates in the 2nd Schunk Expert Days Service Robotics a platform for international experts.

CoTeSys participates in the 2nd Schunk Expert Days Service Robotics a platform for international robotics and market experts on February 18th and 19th.

Apart from an overview of CoTeSys to be given by the General Manager, the cluster of excellence presents the project JAHIR - „Joint Action for Humans and Industrial Robots". Its goals are to investigate the cognitive basis of joint action. This knowledge is then used to implement safe and effective physical cooperation between humans and robots in an industrial setting. By taking advantage of the individual strength of the cooperating partners, better results can be achieved: While the robot is used for the completion of recurring tasks or the handling of heavy parts the human worker can play his strength - his sensory skills. Within this project, joint-action capabilities for robotic systems will be developed and demonstrated, for example

  • implicit recognition of the assembly partner's action intentions from observation of its motor actions, gestures, gaze and facial expressions or
  • physical cooperation for joint handling of (heavy) objects, joint usage of tools incomplementation of mutual sensor-motorical abilities and the ability to organize and share a common physical workspace.
