The mobile robot system ALIAS - a CoTeSys satellite project - will be presented at the Rehacare fair in Düsseldorf, in October 2012. Alias interacts with elderly users, monitors and provides cognitive assistance.

CoTeSys presents the project The Adaptable Ambient LIving ASsistant - ALIAS at the international trade fair Rehacare, which was developed as part of the cluster of excellence CoTeSys.

Elderly people who live by themselves sometimes have the problem of losing social contacts and being more and more passive. The mobile communication assistant ALIAS is a robot that will enhance the social contacts of his human counterpart. The robot also adapts to the changing needs of his human counterpart.
Elderly people shall be more active with the help of the robot, e.g. by playing games, reminding them of taking their medicine or give access to online services or TV programs. In order to do so an intuitive human-robot interaction is needed. ALIAS communicates with spoken language, an icon-based touch-screen menu and a brain-computer interface.

ALIAS  is presented in the theme park Assistive robotics. In this park 6 international projects show their newest developments in the field of service robotics - for the care of elderly and disabled people.

The Rehacare fair will take place from October 10-13, 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Some 800 exhibitors will be presenting an overview of new and improved products on the rehabilitation and care market.
